Children’s Christmas Pageant
“The First Christmas (a musical)”
7 p.m. Christmas Eve – Traditional Worship of Lessons & Carols
From Reverend Pat Kriss
This Sunday marks a truly joyous occasion for all of us at First Church as the centerpiece of our service will be the very first Children’s musical Christmas pageant that we’ve held in the Sanctuary for more than eight years. Whether you have kids, have grown-up kids, or are a kid at heart, you will enjoy this special presentation.
There’s an important message for us in an old saying:
“Children are a third of our population and all of our future.”
Certainly there is no more important level to help a child build a successful future than the foundation we lay for them. Having a moral core in childhood, exploring their spirituality, building self-confidence, and being made to feel a part of a community that cares for and includes them is at the very cornerstone of that foundation. We owe a major debt of gratitude to Pat Moriarty, the creator of our Children’s Chorus and the professional who has helped mold our kids into a joyous Christmas musical that you all will enjoy this Sunday. And we owe an equal debt to Cindy Tyrseck and her helpers and volunteers who shape young minds with Christian education.
And, right around the corner, IS CHRISTMAS EVE! On Tuesday night, December 24, we will gather with Music Director par excellence Jim Moriarty, our Chancel Choir, soloists and guest musicians to hold our Lessons and Carols Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m. This is one annual event you will want to be present for, and bring your friends as well! Remember: There is ample parking across the street.
Finally I want to share a blessing with all of you, for I am certain that wonderful things are about to happen to our 323 year-old congregation. It’s a blessing for right now and for the future:
Creator God, You who send us the Prince of Peace
in the shape of a tiny baby,
show us the way to carry His message forth
as we leave the Manger and return to
a tired and anxious world.
Teach us, mold us, make us Christ Bearers.
May this Congregation always, with the help of
very special angels
be at your service to reach out to those
who live in darkness and need the light
of a Christmas Candle every day of the year. AMEN. - Pastor Pat Kriss
